"A Self Unseen" is a sculptural installation by Ece Batur that reflects on the tension between societal beauty standards and personal identity. Using a transparent chair and mirror as symbols of the body and self-perception, the work explores how external ideals distort inner truth. Layered with colorful acrylic pieces, the chair becomes a vessel for the pressures of conformity. Inspired by Sarah Lucas’s investigations of form and gender, the piece reveals how beauty norms mask, mold, and complicate the act of seeing ourselves clearly.
