“Body is a Pattern” reimagines the kilim as a site of resistance and embodied memory. Drawing from Anatolian weaving traditions, where women historically encoded messages into rugs as forms of silent communication, the artist constructs a personal kilim using textiles and strands of embedded human hair. This reactivation of symbolic language creates a tactile archive of resilience, where patterns become tools of defiance and remembrance. Blurring the boundaries between craft and language, domesticity and rebellion, the work honors ancestral modes of expression while inscribing the artist’s own body into the fabric of tradition. Each thread becomes a gesture of survival, care,
and reclamation.
