'Artificial Intimacies' begins with a lace pattern inherited from the artist’s grandmother.
Using a 3D pen and recycled plastic, the pattern is retraced by hand, but no longer with thread. The gesture remains, while the material moves elsewhere; familiar, yet distant.
What once folded, softened, and stayed close to the body becomes something that holds its shape. It does not return the same intimacy.
The work moves through a process of translation rather than replication; where something is carried forward, but altered in the process.
Displayed in transparent cases, the forms sit between preservation and distance. They are kept, but not used. Held, but no longer touched in the same way.
