Artificial Intimacies

This body of work reinterprets traditional lace-making through contemporary materials and methods. Using a 3D pen and recycled plastic, the artist reconstructs patterns derived from her grandmother’s handmade lace. The substitution of synthetic material for thread speaks to a tension between preservation and loss, intimacy and artificiality. Displayed in transparent cases, the works act as both archival gestures and formal studies, examining the transformation of inherited knowledge, gendered labour, and memory across material and generational lines.
